But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;(1 Peter 2:9)
There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep. “Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives. So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”(1 Sam 16:11-2)
God sent Samuel to go and perform an anointing service for the next king of Israel which was David, everything and everybody else was present except the candidate.
The bible tells us that David was taking care of the sheep in the bush all by himself whiles the rest of his brothers were at home. When you look at it closely you would realize that the odds were against David in every aspect but when God’s appointed time came He brought David from the bush and anointed him in the presence of his brothers.
These days Christians fight for the approval of men thinking that men can help us get somewhere. A lot of Christians are serving in church today to please the pastor or the leaders of the church just because the pastor helped somebody got a job.
Whatever we do let’s put our faith in God and believe that whatever happens God will come through for us. David could’ve complained about being the only one taking care of the sheep but that wouldn’t have gotten him anywhere.
The bible says God’s ways are not our ways so it is true that the odds are against you, it is true that your back is against the rock but what you don’t see is God’s way out of it. David was not even properly dressed for the occasion but all those who were nicely dressed had to wait until the dirty bush man gets home before they could proceed. Don’t try to impress anybody, God sees your heart and in due time He will bring you out against all odds.
Remember David was not the family’s favorite but he became greater than all of them just because he was God’s favorite. You are God’s favorite, let your enemies go and burn the sea it doesn’t change anything, you are going to walk into you own anointing service which will elevate you to a higher standard beyond your imagination.
David was anointed three times and he also held three great offices King, priest and prophet. I declare that same anointing upon your life from today, you are a royal priest whose words of decree and declaration will never fall to the ground. From today people around you will begin to treat you with respect and give you honor because of the anointing upon your life.
